This reservoir built in 1940, collects the waters of the Lozoya River at the height of the town of Buitrago de Lozoya. With a capacity of 53 cubic hectometers and an area of 280 hectares, it is intended for electricity generation and supply, although its recreational use for fishing for barbels, bogas, carps and crucian carp is also an important tourist attraction. Its waters are included within a Special Control Area, so to practice fishing we must obtain a daily authorization, which although free, is essential. This authorization can be obtained by presenting the Community of Madrid fishing license, in force, in the following establishments, all located in the town of Buitrago de Lozoya:
Bar "La Plaza" (918680962)
Bar "El Andarrios" (679407794)
Churrería Rick (918680962)
District Office No. 3 (918680897)
Fishing in this reservoir is allowed from March 15 to October 15 and each fisherman will be able to use a maximum of two rods that must be within easy reach. The sacrifice for consumption of 12 carps and 12 crucian carp is allowed, and the return to water of any other species is compulsory, except those considered as invasive alien species that may also be slaughtered.
